Verification of a theory of planned behavior model of medication adherence in Korean adults: focused on moderating effects of optimistic or present bias

Abstract Background To prevent or recover from a disease, the prescriptions for medications must be correct, and patient comply with medication’s instructions. Therefore, this study verified theory of planned behavior (TPB) model to predict medication adherence among Korean adults examined role optimistic present bias in that model. Methods The participants were 357 male female whose ages ranged 18 76 ( M = 41.53, SD 9.89). Their was measured Morisky Green Levine Scale. TPB factors modified items related developed based on concept previous studies. Results An alternative model, including direct path attitude behavior, perceived behavioral control an insignificant intention validated adults’ adherence. This found moderated by bias. Conclusions findings should provide useful information future research medical health professionals who wish improve their patients.
